Will a new furnace and air conditioner lower my gas and
electric bill?
Absolutely. By having our highly trained technicians installing
a new high efficiency furnace and/or air conditioner, your gas and
electric bill will usually be cut in half. Insulation quality
in your home is also important in keeping your heating and air conditioning
bills lower.
How long should my old furnace and air conditioner last?
Most furnaces and air conditioners last between 15 and 20 years, but
by replacing your furnace and/or air conditioner before its life expectancy
is up with a high efficiency furnace and/or air conditioner can save
you money on your gas and electric bills.
What should I look for to know if I am getting a fair
price?
Low and cheap prices are not always better. If a contractor
can install heating and air conditioning equipment for less than $1,500,
they are installing low-end equipment and/or having unqualified technicians
install the equipment. Other reasons for being such a cheap
price include:
- Not pulling proper permits
- Not carrying liability insurance
- Not providing long term service
- Not spending the time to properly install the equipment up to code
- Limited warranties on low-end equipment
Are there any add-on features that I can add to my heating
and air conditioning equipment?
Every household has different comfort needs built into their heating
and air conditioning system. By adding a humidifier, dry throats,
itchy eyes, and static electricity can be eliminated. To remove
unwanted dust in your house hold, you can add an air cleaner. Save
money by adding a programmable thermostat to keep your system at a
lower operating level when your home is unoccupied, and back up to
temperature when you get back home. If you don’t like the
odors from cooking, smoke, chemicals, and other household smells and
want to reduce allergies, add a ultraviolet system that drastically
increase the indoor quality from these issues. Larger homes have
hot and cold rooms. In these rooms, consider installing a zoning
system for added comfort. Any of the above items can be added
to your system to help increase your household comfort.

Why does it smell like something is burning the first
time I turn my furnace on in the fall?
During the summer, dust particles build up on the heat exchanger. When
fall comes, you start your furnace, and the heat exchanger heats up
to approximately 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Every time the furnace
begins operating, the dust and dirt that built up all summer long begins
to burn the dust off, which is the smell that is coming from your furnace.
Why is there a black residue around my registers?
Over the years, your ductwork can collect a lot of dirt and debris. The
dirt and debris in your ductwork can be from things such as smoke from
a pre-existing fuel oil burning furnace, soot from a chimney, smoke
from a house fire, and even smoke from an oil based candle. There
are many other things that can cause these stains, but these are the
most common reasons for the residue. Your best bet is to have
your ductwork cleaned or replaced. After having your ductwork
cleaned, we suggest installing a high efficiency air cleaner and possibly
an UV system.
How often should I schedule a check-up for my heating
and air conditioning system?
A clean and check is suggested to be done before the heating and cooling
season. We also recommend that your filter be changed twice a
year to keep the air your household breathes clean, unless you have
a high efficiency filter which could last 6 – 12 months.
Why do my boiler pipes make a gurgling noise?
More than likely, the cause of the gurgling noise is from air in your
piping system. By having one of our qualified technicians come
and inspect your system, your gurgling piping system will be fixed
in no time.
